Joyce graduated from The High School of Music and Art, Manhattan, New York, then continued her studies at the Oberlin College Conservatory, Oberlin, Ohio, earning her Bachelor of Music Degree from there in 1955. Further study with Carlos Salzedo at the highly prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, PA. earned her the Artist's Diploma from that institution. Her harp debut at Carnegie Recital Hall in New York City, October 6, 1962, garnered enthusiastic reviews both from the New York Times and the Herald Tribune. After ten years of orchestral work, Joyce served on faculty for four years at the University of Illinois in Urbana. She has free-lanced here in California since that time, performing frequently at numerous venues -- Colleges, churches -- wherever her services are required. She also performs regularly, sometimes with her students, for her own California Spiritual Harp Institute, CSHI, a government approved 501(c)3, non-profit organization that brings the healing power of music to residents of hospitals and Senior homes (please see footnote below*).
Joyce teaches all sizes, levels, and types of harps in her Antioch studio, and she teaches piano (to intermediate) as well.
